Getting to Taveuni from both main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu is very easy. The simplest ways to get there is by ferry from Suva port or airplane from either Nadi [pronounced Nandi] International Airport or Nausori airport about 14kms (9 miles) from Suva. (The taxi ride from Suva Central to Nausori airport will cost you around FJ$25 one way).

By Ferry
As Taveuni is the "breadbasket" of Fiji, supplying the majority of root crops, copra (dried coconut flesh) and kava to other parts of Fiji, it has a ferry dock facility at Wairiki, servicing two large RORO (Roll On-Roll Off) passenger and transport ferries to and from Suva.
The M.V Suilvan and the "Spirit of Fiji Islands" (also known as "SOFI") are the two operating ferries to and from Taveuni.
Each ferry services is an overnight trip and leaves Suva for Taveuni three times a week, (via Savusavu in Vanua Levu).
For a one-way trip in economy, prices start at FJ$63 (adult) per person.
The ferry leaves Narayan Jetty in Walu Bay, Suva and tickets can be purchased before-hand from the respective ferry offices or on-board on the day of sailing (for a slight premium).
In Taveuni, the ferries leave Wairiki Jetty. Tickets can also be bought on-board on the day of sailing (for a slight premium) or from the shipping offices in Somosomo (for M.V Suilvan) or Waiyevo (for SOFI), before-hand.
M.V. Suilvan
The Suilvan leaves Suva on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, around 6pm (boarding time 4pm) and arrives in Savusavu around 4am and Taveuni around 10.30am the following day, (see ferry departure times, below)
Cost
A one-way trip in economy will cost you FJ$63 (adult) per person. First class is FJ$87 per person and cabins start from FJ$102 per person.
Tickets
Tickets can be bought in Suva, from the Suilvans office in Suva (opposite the market), before 3pm and at the ferry wharf office after 3pm. In Taveuni, tickets can be bought in Waiyevo or boatside on the day of boarding, (but expect to pay a slight premium).
Facilities
The facilities are comfortable and clean. Food can be purchased on-board and the journey is pleasant, (although sometimes it can be choppy).

MV Suilven Ferry from Suva to Taveuni
Spirit of Fiji Islands (SOFI)
The Consort Shipping ferry "Spirit of Fiji Islands" (SOFI) leaves Suva on Monday, Wednesday and Friday around 12pm (boarding time 10am) and arrives in Taveuni around 6am the following day, (see ferry departure times, below).

A one-way trip in economy will cost you around FJ$62 (adult) per person.
Tickets
In Suva, ferry tickets can be purchased from the Consort Shipping Office located near the ferry wharf in Suva. In Taveuni, ferry tickets can be bought at the booking office next to the post office in Waiyevo.

By Airplane
The most direct way to get to the island is by airplane. Taveuni has an airport at Matei, and you can fly in from the main island of Viti Levu from either Nadi International or Nausori Airport, for around FJ$230 and FJ$182, respectively, one way.
Flights leave to and from Taveuni at least twice a day, sometimes stopping off at Savusavu airport (Vanua Levu).
It takes about 90 minutes to fly to/from Nadi airport and about 1 hour to fly to/from Nausori airport.

Sun Pacific offers direct flights from Nadi International Airport, to Matei Airport, Taveuni. The flight takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes..
There are two daily flights, on most days, arriving in Taveuni, one in the morning (between 9- 10 am) and one in the afternoon (between 2-3 pm). Please check the Sun Pacific website for exact times of arrivals and departures.
